These include safety audits, ramp inspections, spot checks, and night surveillance on airlines, till Thursday (December 22), apart from airport operators, approved organisations, and flying training schools to check whether they are following safety standards.
“We issued or renewed 17,220 flight crew licences through a single-window digital platform, eGCA. The number of commercial pilot licences (CPL) issued during the year has been the highest in the last decade at 1,131,” a senior DGCA official said.
In 2022, the regulator issued air operator permit for scheduled air transport service to three operators — SNV Aviation (Akasa Air) on July 7; GSEC Monarch and Deccan Aviation (India One Air) in June, and Quikjet Cargo Airlines in December. The DGCA issued three non-schedule operator permits, apart from new aerodrome licences for Deoghar (Jharkhand), Hollongi (Arunachal Pradesh), Jeypore (Odisha), and New Goa (MOPA).
“A new process for auto-filling of pilot’s e-logbook by integrating Aircraft System data (ACARS, AIMS, ARMS) of scheduled airline operators with eGCA was started in 2022. Apart from fetching real-time pilots’ flying hours with accuracy, with minimised manual intervention, this will help in timely submission of applications by pilots for issue, renewal, and endorsement of licences by removal of multi-layer data-validation steps. IndiGo has already implemented this method and other scheduled airlines are expected to implement it in the next two months,” the official said.
The biggest “achievement” this year was the significant jump in International Civil Aviation Organisation’s coordinated validation mission (or audit) of Indian DGCA that was conducted in November. “As a result, the effective implementation score of India has risen from previous 69.9% to nearly 85.5%, thereby changing India’s Safety Oversight rank from 102 to 48, among the 193 contracting states,” the official said.
